“Her sound, a mix of classical cello, with a fusion of folk melodies and beautiful soft vocals, reminded me of a quote by Plato: Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.”

New Album – Suite Dreams
‘Suite Dreams’ is the latest project from Irish cellist and singer Naomi Berrill, in collaboration with Sonzogno and published by Warner, has been released on the 8th of May. The main theme is migration. Migration of melodies, of people, of birds and trees. The cello explores new territories, using fluid and airy harmonics to accompany, syncopated jazz rhythms, and the vital energy of Irish folk music.
Not only cellist
Galway-born, Florence-based cellist Naomi Berrill is one of those brave and inventive musicians, entirely unfettered by genre, who is describing the future of art music
With artists such as Berrill who freelance and perform the work of others, it can feel like an intimate reflection of their creative mind when original solo work is produced. Her sound is delicate and deliberate, her cello occupying an otherwise sparse soundscape, mainly met by her airy soprano vocals.
